BLOOD COAL
(Award winning short film)
Music, Sound Design, Animation
The challenge: To create a soundtrack for a film about the dangers of coal explotation in third world countries where companies often avoid checks and balances. At times based in Europe at times in latin america. Hence, the need for a diverse and versatily music score.
The way we did it was to join forces between musicians from both sides of the atlantic, and real colombian Vallenato musicians.
Our approach was to create a soundrtack inspired by the original locations of the story (Colombia and Europe) in styles of music that felt authentic to the region, such as Cumbia and Vallenato, as well as latin alternative rock, in way that could enhance a sense of realism and empathy, while estimulating a call to action for cleaner energy.
